Questions, Questions, We All Have Questions

How do we have time to add this to our day? I think the most important thing I took away from this morning’s presentation was the need to have blogging as part of an overall communications strategy for an organization. But the time it will take to get buy-in within our organization –especially for those folks who live by doing the same thing year after year — is going to make this a tough sell for me. How do you reach people who feel this is just one more add-on?
Sherry, this is a pretty routine question. Let me ask, how do you incorporate the web into your day? Email? These are all things we didn’t have 15 years ago, but now they’ve become routine.
I would suggest that these are not additions to things you’re already doing, but replacements for some of the old ways of doing things. While there will be a transition period as you get accustomed to it, ultimately you will (for instance) use RSS feeds INSTEAD of visits to a few web sites. I spoke with a CEO who blogs. He said he’s spending no additional time communicating, but some of the communication that formerly was accomplished through other channels now lends itself better to blogs, so he’s applied the new tool to the mix.
Does that help?

Love to hear some thoughts on utilizing comments and services like CoComment in lieu of starting your own blog, or as a way for an organization to start getting involved in the converstation.
